Stamer property displayed at art exhibit

SPARTA TOWNSHIP-The paintings of local artist Wendy Stamer will be featured March 20-April 4, at the Drue Chryst Gallery in Sparta. The exhibition, which will include an opening reception, 2-5 p.m., Sunday, March 20, will include scenes of Stamer's property that was recently threatened to be condemned to make way for a new 1,600 student high school in Sparta. Stamer's landscapes mirror her love of the 203-acre homestead, which has been her life-long home. "It speaks to my senses and nourishes my soul as an artist," said Stamer. "It would be criminal to lose this land to development." The property provided the inspiration for her paintings of open fields, stately mature woods, flowing brooks and barns. The works, from her personal collection, reflect each season's varied colors, hues, shades and patterns. Stamer has been is involved in exhibit for the Sparta Woman's Club, State Fair of New Jersey, Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council, Hilltop Country Day School, and Sussex-Warren Arts Council. She has produced limited edition prints of her work for the benefit of Project Self-Sufficiency and the Newton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
