Take a stroll along the Boardwalk and enjoy the beginning of the holiday season

    SPARTA-On Friday and Saturday the Lake Mohawk County Club's Boardwalk will be transformed into a busy German Christmas market or Weihnachtsmarkt The event will showcase some 40 vendors offering unique Christmas items, as well as traditional food items from the sizzling German sausages, to roasted nuts and warmed mulled spiced wine. On Friday, Dec. 3 the Boardwalk will open for business at 2 p.m. for the early bird shopper. The German Christmas market will be officially open that evening, at 6.15 p.m. by Sparta Township Mayor Scott Seelagy. At 6.30 p.m. the Sparta High School chorus will take center stage. This year, the proceeds from the German Christmas market will be donated to Big Brother Big Sisters of Sussex County, and to the Sparta and Lenape Valley school districts. The program of events for the two days of shopping is as follows : Friday, Dec. 3 7 p.m. - Lake Mohawk Country Club's Tree Lighting Ceremony. 7.30 p.m. - Cameo Productions, a holiday contribution by Jacqueline Brochel. 8 p.m. n Soloist Connor Boushell. 10 p.m. - Market Closes. Saturday, Dec. 4 11 a.m. - Market opens. 11a.m. n Concert by the Sparta High School. 12.30 p.m. - The Gesamtverein of Germania Park. 1 p.m. - The Lenape Valley Dancers and Singers. 5 p.m. - Market closes.
