NEWTON — Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame inductees The Ventures will be performing at the Newton Theatre on Wednesday, April 4, at 8 p.m. The Ventures have been touring for over 50 years, with more than 450 LP and CD albums released worldwide, and 100 million plus in record sales. The Ventures continue recording and touring to the delight of fans around the world. With 14 top 100 Hits, they are one of the most prolific bands of all time. The original duo was formed by Bob Bogle and Don Wilson. They were eventually joined by Nokie Edwards to record “Walk, Don’t Run,” a song that found them sitting at number two on the Billboard Singles Chart. The band went on to become one of the biggest selling acts of the 1960s. Later joined by Mel Taylor, Gerry McGee, Bob Spalding and Leon Taylor, The Ventures defined a branch of rock and roll often overlooked; instrumental rock. From day one, their style has been unique and has helped define this musical genre. The Ventures will be performing all of their top 10 hits including "Walk, Don't Run," " Hawaii Five-O," "Perfidia," "Secret Agent Man," and others. They can be found online at www.theventures.com.
