Hackettstown — The Centenary College Theatre Department will perform Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” from Thursday, Nov. 30 through Sunday, Dec. 3. The performances will take place at the Little Theatre, located on the campus of Centenary College, in Hackettstown. “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is an enchanting story combining love, magic and comedy. On a night, Hermia and her lover, Lysander, flee from Athens. Demetrius follows, pursued by Helena, who loves him in spite of being spurned in favor of Hermia. On the same evening, Bottom and his friends leave Athens to find somewhere quiet to rehearse their play, which is to be performed at the wedding feast of Duke Theseus. Drawn into the woods, they enter a world of magic, mystery and wonder. The performance is directed by Dr. Carolyn Coulson-Grigsby, an assistant professor of theatre and humanities at Centenary College. Coulson-Grigsby received her B.A. in Theatre Arts from Santa Clara University, studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and earned her M.A. in Medieval Studies from the University of Connecticut, where she also earned her Ph.D. The curtain will go up at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 30; at 8 p.m. on Dec. 1 and 2; and at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 3. Tickets are $8 adults and $6.50 children under 12. To purchase tickets, contact the theatre office at 908-979-0900 or log on to www.centenarystageco.org.
