Tri-State to hold auditions for A Streetcar Named Desire

    Sussex — Tri-State Actors Theater will hold non-union auditions for A Street Car Named Desire by Tennessee Williams at 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2006. The auditions will be held at the Crescent Theater, 74 Main St., Sussex. Four roles will be played by Equity Actors; the remainder of the cast will be Non-Equity and local jobbers. Audition appointments are not necessary, actors will sign in upon arrival. We will provide pages from the script for roles being cast. We are particularly interested in Equity members for the roles of Blanche, Stanley, Stella, and Harold Mitchell, but will see actors for all roles. Auditioners will be seen by the director of the production, Paul Meacham. Streetcar will rehearse at Tri-State Actors Theater from Aug. 29 to Sept. 19, and will be presented from Sept. 20 to Oct. 8. Actors must be available for the entire rehearsal period and all performances. Some pay. Character breakdown of roles to auditioned: Blanche DuBois—30-40, a delicate beauty and a native of Mississippi. Stella (DuBois) Kowalski—25, a native of Mississippi, gentle, but strong. Stanley Kowalski—about 30-35, blue-collar, medium height, compactly built. Harold Mitchell— 30-35, blue collar, gentle; kind; little sensuality. Eunice Hubbell—female, 35-40, working class wife of Steve Steve Hubbell—male, 35-40, blue collar, uneducated, Stella and Stanley’s landlord. African American Woman—30-60, sense of humor, neighbor of Stella’s, working class. Mexican Woman —30-60 seller of flowers for the dead Pablo Gonzales—20-40, Hispanic, poker player pal of Stanley; blue collar, not a native of New Orleans. A Young Collector—Delivers newspapers, 14-17, naïve. Nurse—40-50, hard, no nonsense, no pity. Doctor—50-60, Native southerner, kind, compassionate, a gentleman.
