Vernon Chinese restaurant relocates to Route 94

VERNON-Vernon's first Chinese restaurant has relocated to the Aviva Plaza on Route 94. Bo Ya Palace, formerly called Long Spring, had been located at the Post Office Plaza on Route 515 for the past 14 years. Bo Ya Palace has been open for about two months for take-out only, but owner Michael Cheng has plans for the restaurant. "Previously, this property was divided into three separate stores; by the end of February, I will occupy the entire building and can proceed with my plans for Bo Ya," said Cheng. Cheng has installed a state-of-the-art, stainless-steel kitchen. "By June or July, we hope to have our grand opening with seating for 80-100 people, serving our traditional Chinese cuisine and also offering a lot of Chinese-style seafood, Sushi and Dim Sum, which I think will be very popular because everything is steamed," said Cheng. "We will also be offering 10 different types of green tea." Within the next two years, Cheng hopes to put in place even bigger plans. "My dream is to have a little China Town," said Cheng. "My brother, John, and I plan to build a Chinese supermarket and have a family buffet with entertainment, a place where the whole family can have fun." Born in China, Cheng moved to Hong Kong as a child. He has lived in Vernon for the past 16 years, where he is married and has a two-year-old child.
