Walk, bike or run to help people in Sussex County

    Sussex County - The Center for Prevention and Counseling will hold its first Paces for Prevention fundraiser, in which participants can bike, run or walk, to benefit its prevention and counseling programs. The event will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1, at Kittatinny Valley State Park in Andover, rain or shine. Serious bikers and runners are welcome, as are families and individuals out for a day of fun in a beautiful setting. The day’s events and activities include a 5K run and walk, biking up to 20 miles along the rails trail, a Family Fun Walk as well as food, games, face-painting, and old-fashioned ice cream and hot-dog vendor trucks. The cost is $20 for individuals who pre-register and $30 for families who pre-register. Day of the event registration fee is $25 for individuals and $35 for families. The Center for Prevention and Counseling is a non-profit agency located in Newton, whose mission is to promote health, hope and recovery among all people by creating an environment that is safe and free from the effects of substance abuse and addiction. The agency provides substance abuse prevention and counseling services to children, teens, adults and families in Sussex County from all economic and cultural backgrounds.
