Waterloo United Methodist Church hosts Feed Fest 2019
By Mandy Coriston
Byram - The Waterloo United Methodist Church is once again holding a food drive and family fun festival to collect goods for the church’s food pantry and food distribution ministry. Feed Fest 2019 will be from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at the JAM Catering Hall adjacent to the church in Waterloo Village at 525 Waterloo Road, Stanhope.
According to Pastor Timothy Nicinski, the beginning of the new year is often when the food pantries need the most support, and for that reason, the church made the decision to hold this event in the winter.
“People are generous, and the holiday season brings out the best in their generosity,” he said, “However, after the holidays, people return to the busyness of life and the food banks which were once flush quickly fall into deficit.”
The event is a family-friendly party featuring games, crafts, live entertainment, and food. This year’s goal is to collect 1200 lbs. of food for Project Self-Sufficiency and NORWESCAP. There’s also a monetary goal of $1000 to be donated to the Byram Township Police Department, which will use the contributions to purchase and distribute supermarket gift cards to those in need.
Admission to Feed Fest 2019 is simple, and no pre-registration is required- just bring along a food item or a grocery store gift card, or make a freewill monetary donation. Food donations will be weighed during the event, and prizes supplied by local businesses will be given to individuals and groups who’ve collected the most.
