Weekly figure drawing sessions at TraillWorks

NEWTON — TraillWorks Studio hosted the first of many open studio figure drawing sessions this past January. The two and a half-hour sessions are set to take place every Tuesday evening, from 7-9:30 p.m., at TraillWorks Studio, 214 Spring Street in Newton. The uninstructed, yet moderated, sessions will feature various models every three to four weeks. Sessions are open to amateur and professional artists alike; no artistic training or figure drawing experience is necessary or required. TraillWorks owner Jennie Traill Schaeffer struggled with holding regular figure drawing sessions for over two years now. After much planning and two figure drawing workshops in 2011, the sessions will be added to the 2012 calendar permanently. According to Schaeffer, the gallery is large enough for guests to feel comfortable, yet intimate enough to make them feel right at home. TraillWorks is located at 214 Spring Street, 1st Floor, in Newton, and is open Tuesday and Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m., Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m., and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The contemporary gallery features Schaeffer's paintings, drawings, and prints as well as original, artisan-made jewelry and art by emerging and established guest-artists. TraillWorks offers art lessons and custom work, specializing in wedding cake portraits. For more information call 973-383-1307 or visit www.traillworks.com.
