Weis offers a day of whale watching

    RINGWOOD — On Saturday, August 26 Weis Ecology Center will sponsor its annual trip to Plymouth, Mass. Touting it as “All the whales in half the time” (of making a weekend trip on your own), the trip will include coach bus ride to and from Plymouth and a 4.5 hour round trip on an 80-foot, double-decked boat. The destination is Stellwagen Bank, the national underwater preserve, famous for whale, dolphin and bird watching. Past sightings include: Humpback, Minke, and Finback whales, Northern Gannet, Wilson’s Storm Petrel, Basking Shark, and sea turtles. The bus will leave at 7:30 a.m. and will return after midnight. The cost of the Whale Watch is $90 per person, with a $15 discount for members of the New Jersey Audubon Society. Pre-registration is required as space is limited.
