West Milford - The women’s association of the Presbyterian Church is organizing its largest fund raiser of the year, the annual rummages sale. Known as the town’s largest such sale, it will be held at the church, 1452 Union Valley Road, on Friday, June 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday, June 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. It continues on Monday, June 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The proceeds from the sale not only help defray the costs for the upkeep and maintenance of the church grounds and buildings, but also provide a financial and “quality of life” benefit to the church and local communities as well as to several area charities and organizations. The rummage sale is a money-making event for the church, but many of the dollars earned get funneled back to the community in several ways. The church grounds are used by local residents for sporting events and recreation while the church buildings are used by local groups like the Brownies, Cub Scouts, Girl and Boy Scout Troops, Music at the Mission, Alcoholics Anonymous, and more. The food pantry helps feed the hungry throughout the year. In addition to providing items such as furniture, clothing, glassware, dishes, and toys at an affordable price to those in need, proceeds of the fundraiser benefit several community organizations. These charities include Eva’s Kitchen and Habitat for Humanity in Paterson, Passaic Valley Hospice, Association for Special Children, Passaic County Mental Health, Heart Pillows for Heart Patients at Chilton Hospital, and many more.
