Woman's Club celebrates with garden party luncheon
SPARTA-The Sparta Woman's Club is celebrating another productive year with its closing luncheon Wednesday, June 1, at the Lake Mohawk Country Club. Although many of the club's departments have a limited summer schedule others continue to meet throughout the warmer months. Other activities taking place in June and over the summer months are: June 2 The Savvy Investors Investment Group will hold its last meeting prior to the summer break. The club will reconvene back in September. The meeting will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. For information call Suzanne Schiavoni at (973) 726-0394. June 2 The Circle of Yarns meets from 1 to 3 p.m., every Thursday to create pieces to be donated to various area charities and hospital affiliates. No previous crocheting or knitting experience is necessary to join the group. Yarn, needles, and instructions are free. For information about joining, call Louise Zawislak at (973) 729-8066. June 7 The Mah Jongg group meets at 7:00 p.m. every Tuesday for an fun-filled evening. All proceeds generated are donated to various Woman's Club causes. For information about joining this or a spin-off group, call Carol Mann at (973) 827-4980. June 8 The Money Makers Investment Group meets from 10 a.m. to 12 noon every second Wednesday. This will be the final meeting until September although the group will continue to monitor its investments throughout the summer. This month the members of the club will meet to select the books for upcoming year. For information call Dorothy Dedrick, department chair at (973) 729-6982. June 14 The Garden and Conservation Department meets the second Tuesday of the month. The group is planning a rose garden tour and picnic lunch for later in the month. June 15 The Evening Book Discussion Group generally meets the third Wednesday of the month. Each member is asked to bring their book suggestions for next year's schedule. The group will reconvene in September. For information call Gay VanBrunt at (973) 726-0340. August 18 The Out to Lunch Bunch usually meets the third Thursday of the month at a local restaurant. There will be no meeting in June or July. The group will reconvene at The Lake Mohawk Country Club in August for lunch on the Boardwalk. For information call Doris Doyle at (973) 729-6186. There are several levels of bridge groups that meet each month. These groups will continue to meet over the summer. The General Federation of Women's Clubs includes the Sparta Woman's Club as a member of the 10th District of the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs.
