Young Performer's Workshop at Centenary to hold interviews for spring session

Program to end with three musical productions Hackettstown The Centenary Young Performer’s Workshop, a professional theatre training program for young people ages 8-18, will hold interviews for the spring session. Students meet on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., where they are engaged in both classroom and the production process of theatre arts. This 15-week, intensive program is designed to meet the needs of beginning, intermediate and advanced performers interested in working in theatre. The program ends with the production of three full musicals. The session will begin on Saturday, Feb. 10, with performances scheduled for May 25 through June 3. The Workshop operates under the umbrella of the Centenary Performing Arts Guild and Centenary Stage Company, a professional Equity theatre in residence on campus, headed by producing artistic director, Carl Wallnau. The program is led by Broadway, film and television veteran Michael Blevins. Blevins has appeared in the Broadway productions of “Bring Back Birdie,” Neil Simon’s “Little Me,” and “Tap Dance Kid,” in which he created the role of Winslow Alexander. He is also widely known for his portrayal of Mark in Sir Richard Attenborough’s film, “A Chorus Line.” Programs at the Centenary Performing Arts Guild are made possible by a generous grant form the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, The New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Pen PAT, Heath Village, Coldwell Banker and Guild Member sponsors. Interviews will be held Sunday, Jan. 14 and Sunday, January 28, at 10 a.m. The cost of the program is $365 for the spring session.
