The Sussex County Association of REALTORS recently presented a check for $12,000 to the Sussex County Habitat for Humanity in Newton.

The money was part of the proceeds from its 11th annual Golf Classic, held in October at Ballyowen Golf Club in Hardyston.

Sussex County Habitat for Humanity was established in 1993 by a small group of people concerned about the need for decent, affordable housing in the county. It is a nonprofit Christian organization and affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.

The organization uses donated labor and materials from the community, homeowners’ sweat equity, and corporate gifts-in-kind to make safe and affordable housing a reality.

It also has an ongoing Home Repair Ministry, allowing low-income homeowners in Sussex County to request assistance with needed home repairs. Information and the application is on the website at sussexcountyhfh.org. Call 973-940-0503 for information.

The group’s Cars for Homes car-donation program also helps to raise much needed funds.

The Sussex County Association of REALTORS has donated thousands of dollars throughout the county. It is a not-for-profit trade association representing nearly 650 real estate professionals doing business in Sussex, Morris, Passaic and Warren counties. For information, go online to scarnj.com
