After 12 years in Hamburg, doctor switches locations NEWTON — After twelve years with Sparta Medical Associates in Hamburg, Dr. Margaret Kozak has moved to the Newton office. This change in location is more convenient for Kozak, who currently lives in Hope with her husband and their daughter, one dog, two birds, and a fish. The change in venue offers more convenience for patients too. Dr. John McGraw was the only doctor on staff. With the addition of Kozak, the Newton office can now offer an increase in doctor availability and has extended appointment hours. The office is now open Monday through Wednesday evenings until 8 p.m. and on Saturday mornings. Plus, with a female doctor on staff, Kozak believes this offers a different perspective to the patients. Kozak is well trained in the medical field. She earned her bachelors degree from Dickinson College, Penn., and her masters in behavioral neuroscience from Rutgers University. For the next four year she worked as a biochemist performing cardiovascular research for a pharmaceutical company. Kozak then went to medical school at the University of New England, College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Maine. She completed her family practice residency at Phillipsburg Hospital. Kozak has been with Sparta Medical Associates since 1999. According to Kozak she sees all ages of patients. “From newborns to nursing homes and everything in between,” said Kozak. The interaction with patients is what she loves most about her job. Even though a female replacement has been hired in the Hamburg office, many of Kozak’s patients followed her to Newton. “I see Hamburg patients every day,” said Kozak. Sparta Medical Associates in Newton is located at 135 Newton Sparta Road. They accept most commercial insurance plans and Medicare.
