Newton Memorial welcomes new anesthesiologist

    NEWTON — Dr. Siegfried, the latest physician to join the Newton Memorial Hospital family, is an anesthesiologist who has received highly specialized training in pain management from the world-renowned Multi-Disciplinary Pain Center of the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. Siegfried is board certified in pain management, as well as anesthesiology. He served as director of pain management for nine years at Columbia University’s Presbyterian Medical Center. He also served as an assistant professor and director of post-graduate training in pain management at The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. Siegfried has spent the last few years running a private practice in pain management. He decided to join Newton Memorial Hospital to ensure his patients receive the highest quality care in a hospital setting that provides state-of-the-art technological support and a friendly, clean and safe environment. “I’m excited about being affiliated with Newton Memorial Hospital,” he said. “Having done pain management procedures outside the hospital setting, more and more patients were coming to me and asking whether they could have their procedures done at Newton Memorial Hospital. Now, I’m proud to say they can.” Siegfried received his bachelor’s degree in biology, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania; studied medicine at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine in Brooklyn, N.Y.; and spent his residency years at Staten Island University Hospital and Columbia University’s Presbyterian Medical Center.
