Joseph A. Benedetto of Franklin, N.J., unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Newton Medical Center. He was 71.
He was born on June 13, 1949, in Franklin to the late Angelo and Mae (Ross) Benedetto. Joseph lived in Sussex County all of his life.
He had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and supported many military events and parades. Joseph had been employed as an operations manager for Midland Park Lumber in Midland Park, N.J., for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed spending summers at the Jersey shore, especially at Cape May Courthouse and Wildwood.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Florence (“Snookie”), in 2014; and his infant son, Joseph A. Benedetto Jr.
Joseph is survived by his devoted daughters, Amy Hocko and her husband, Ron, of Sussex, N.J., and Kim Benedetto and her fiancé, John Kozeradsky, of Franklin; his dear brothers, Robert Benedetto and his fiancé, Carol, of Oakland, N.J., and Ronald Benedetto and his fiancé, Sandra, of Stockholm, N.J.; his cherished grandchildren, Kylie and Makayla; many dear cousins, nieces and nephews; and a large extended loving family of friends.
Funeral services were held May 4 at the Pinkel Funeral Home, Sussex. Interment followed at North Hardyston Cemetery. Visitation was held May 3 at the funeral home. Virtual services are available at bit.ly/3bhN9VB.
