Troop 770 earns Bronze Award

ANDOVER — Andover Township Girl Scout Troop 770 was presented with their Bronze Award by Long Pond School Principal T. Jon Sinclair. The Bronze Award is the highest award a Junior Scout can earn. When the scouts learned that the founder of Facebook was giving $100,000,000 to Newark schools they came up with the idea of Sponsor-A-Girl Scout. The plan was to raise enough funds to help one girl become a Girl Scout, who for financial reasons would otherwise not be able to join scouting. The troop then learned there were girls right in Andover who were struggling financially with the cost of scouting. For their Bronze Award, Troop 770 girls got every Girl Scout troop in Andover to work on a fundraiser with each troop sponsoring one scout. Troop 770 provided all the materials to make it happen. At the end of the project Troop 770 was able to sponsor the equivalent of an entire troop.
