Wantage resident completes unique externship program at Douglass College

    Wantage - Shari Wejsa of Wantage recently completed the Associate Alumnae of Douglass College Extern Program at Douglass College, the all women’s college at Rutgers. Theprogram provides students with real-world experience in the field of work they have chosen or are considering for careers and/or graduate study. Established more than three decades ago, the program enables Douglass College students to try a career on for size. Wejsa participated in the program with Hartford School. As part of the program, the sponsor serves as a role model and mentor. The program lasts one or two weeks and takes place during the student’s winter or spring break. “We’re very proud of Shari and the other Douglass students who have completed the AADC Extern Program,” said Sheila Kelly Hampton, president of Associate Alumnae of Douglass College. “We provide this opportunity for Douglass College students to help prepare them for the world of work. From science labs, to corporate settings, to classrooms, Douglass College students are graduating with hands-on experience that they can share with potential employers.” Douglass College is the largest undergraduate women’s college in the United States and the only women’s college on a public research university’s campus.
