Wantage resident earns Million Mile' award
Wantage - Wantage resident Stanley Murrell has been working for the U.S. Postal Service since the late 1960’s. The Dover letter carrier was recently recognized for his 36 years of safe driving by being enrolled in the National Safety Council’s Million Mile Club. The Million Mile Club is the council’s highest safety honor among professional drivers. To gain this distinction, a professional driver must have driven for over a million miles, or more than 30 years, without having had a preventable accident. Murrell has not had an accident since beginning to work at the Dover Post Office. “Stan is an excellent employee and we are extremely proud of his dedication to safety and professionalism,” said Joseph Inserra, acting postmaster in Dover. “The Dover community can also be proud of Stan for his outstanding effort and commitment to safety, which is undertaken daily amidst all types of traffic conditions.” In addition to working at the Dover Post Office for over 36 years, Murrell has also been married to his wife, Sue, for 36 years. They have three children: Stephen, Scott and Stacey. As part of his enrollment in the council’s Million Mile Club, Murrell received a personalized plaque, which was presented to him at a recent awards ceremony at the post office. The National Safety Council is a not-for-profit, non-governmental, international public service organization dedicated to improving the safety, health and environmental well being of all people. The council initiated the Million Mile Club in 1972 to provide recognition for extraordinary achievement in professional driving.
