YMCA names Youth of the Year

Stillwater Erin Fleck of Fairview Lake YMCA was recently presented with the Russell Colgate Youth of the Year Award at the Metropolitan YMCA of Oranges 30th Annual Fellowship Dinner. One young member from each of the Metropolitan YMCA of Oranges’ five branches received this award for their exemplary behavior at the YMCA and in their personal lives. “Erin has come to exemplify the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all that she does,” said Ellie Daingerfield, executive director of the Fairview Lake branch. “It gives me great pleasure to see her win this year’s Youth of the Year Award for Fairview Lake YMCA.” Erin started off at Fairview Lake YMCA as a volunteer for the Winter Wonderland Celebration in 2004. Since then, she has become an integral part of the Fairview Lake Team, always going the extra mile to get the job done. In addition to the active role Erin plays at Fairview Lake, she also dedicates her time to Kittatinny Regional High School, where she is on both the tennis and ski teams. She is also involved in peer leadership and cross-age training, where she speaks to young children about resisting peer pressure. Erin also volunteers with REBEL (Reaching Everyone By Exposing Lies) and DEFY (Drug Education For Youth), where she promotes drug and alcohol-free lifestyles, and it is this selfless dedication that has earned her the title of Fairview Lake YMCA’s Youth of the Year.
