Andover Township Police
Sept. 13 Patrolman Daniel Kern stopped a motor vehicle on route 206 for a loud exhaust and observed syringes in the front seat. The occupants denied the officer consent to search, so a search warrant was obtained by phone. Police found 32 hypodermic needles, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver, Erin Kitt, 21, of Hackettsstown was charges with possession of hypodermic syringes, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and issued a motor vehicle summons for loud exhaust, obstruction of view, and CDS in a motor vehicle. A passenger in the car, eventually identified as Aaron O’Connor, 27 of Branchville was charged with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and hindering his own apprehension after providing police with a false name. He was also taken into custody on $600 of outstanding warrants from Sparta and Jefferson. The incident was investigated by Patrolman Daniel Kern, Bob Youngs and Det. Eric Danielson. Assisting were the Independence Township Police K-9 unit and the New Jersey State Police. Police responded to a head-on motor vehicle accident on Stickles Pond Road near Newton Jump Airport. Justin R. Oakley, 24, of Montague was driving a Honda Civic toward Yates Road and Gary D. Dutko, 47, of Ogdensburg was driving a GMC Jimmy in the opposite direction. The cars collided head-on, seriously injuring and trapping both parties. Members of the Andover Township and Fredon Fire Departments and the Lakeland First Aid Squad extricated both occupants from their respective vehicles. Oakley sustained internal injuries and Dutko had back and leg injuries. Both were airlifted to Morristown Memorial via Northstar and Atlantic Air One. Two Medic Units from St. Clare’s also responded.
