Newton - Three members of the Sussex One Stop in Newton undertook a recruitment with staff of the newly constructed Applebee’s Restaurant in Newton on Jan. 28, at the N.J. Dept. of Labor and Workforce Development’s office at the Sussex Mall. Led by staff member Dianne Jaworski, assisted by staff member John Lehnert, and counselor Andrew Szymanski, One Stop provided space to interview applicants seeking employment with the restaurant. Applebee’s general manager Joshua Garber and assistant manager Susan Machuga said they were impressed with both the dedication and pre-planning conducted by the staff of the One Stop, and by the talented pool of applicants. They expect the Applebee’s experience to be a positive encounter for the county and for the restaurant. The Jan. 28 recruitment yielded a total of 45 hires for the One Stop and engendered local good will for the restaurant and the local One Stop office Bill Weightman, One Stop administrator, noted, “the recruitment was a win/win solution for all concerned.” The Applebee’s managers said they intend to return for further service. They expect to open the restaurant soon.
