Area students named to dean's list at Virginia Tech
Sussex County - Four students from Sussex County who are enrolled at Virginia Tech were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2005 semester. To qualify for the dean’s list at the school, located in Blacksburg, Va., students must attempt at least 12 credit hours (graded on the A-F option) and earn a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester. The four are Christopher B. Vanderhoof, of Hopatcong; Jason S. Lieb, of Lafayette; and Rich L. Branick and Brian T. Stanek, both of Newton. Vanderhoof is a sophomore majoring in wildlife science in the College of Natural Resources. Lieb is a freshman majoring in general engineering in the College of Engineering. Branick, a sophomore, is also in the College of Engineering, majoring in aerospace engineering. Stanek is a senior majoring in food science and technology in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Founded in 1872 as a land-grant college, Virginia Tech has grown to become the largest university in Virginia, with more than 28,000 full- and part-time undergraduate and graduate students from all 50 states and more than 100 countries in 180 academic degree programs. Its main campus is in Blacksburg, with other centers in Northern Virginia, Southwest Virginia, Hampton Roads, Richmond, and Roanoke.
