Bible-based learning at Bethlehem' replica
Newton - The First Presbyterian Church of Newton is converting its nave into a representation of the biblical Bethlehem to provide Bible-based learning activities for families. “Each day kids and adults will join with a small group that’s named after one of the 12 tribes of Israel. These family Tribes will come together for singing and then explore traditional Bible-times family life,” said Colleen Duffy, associate for family nurture. “They might visit the census taker, play authentic games, or sample Middle Eastern snacks. Families will even explore a Bethlehem village marketplace where they’ll become apprentices in the mosaic shop, the perfume making shop, and the dye shop. They will also try papermaking and musical instrument making.” Bethlehem Village will be open from 9 a.m. to noon from Monday, Aug. 14 through Friday, Aug. 18 at the church, located at 54 High Street in Newton. Pre-registration is recommended. For more information, call 973-383-4420.
