Byram getting on the road this spring

    BYRAM-This spring, Byram and Mount Olive's recreation departments are teaming up to offer several trips for the enjoyment of area residents. Bronx Zoo trip for families At 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, a bus will leave from Byram Municipal Building on Mansfield Drive and return at approximately 6:30 p.m. The cost is $25 and includes admission to the zoo, the zoo shuttle, the Skyfari Cable ride, the Children's Zoo, the Congo Gorillas and coach bus transportation. Driver gratuity is extra. Rain date is Thursday, April 28. Teen Bronx Zoo trip The zoo trip is also available for area teens, ages 13-17. The bus leaves from Byram Municipal Building at 9 a.m. and returns at approximately 6:30 p.m. The $22 cost includes coach bus transportation, zoo shuttle, petting zoo, Skyfari Cable and Congo Gorillas. Medical forms and permission slips are required. Rose Center and Mars 2112 Restaurant trip At 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, a bus will leave the Byram Municipal Building for The Rose Center for the Arts and Sciences in New York City. Voyagers can see the stars at the Hayden Planetarium and the IMAX Theatre and travel on the bus to a lunch at the Mars 2112 Restaurant. After lunch, participants can roam Times Square at their own pace until 4:30 p.m. The bus will return to Byram at approximately 6:30 p.m. The cost is $56 for children and $66 for adults. This includes coach transportation, Rose Center admission, Hayden Planetarium admission, and lunch. Great Adventure trip On Saturday, May 14, teens can check out all the roller coasters, rides and shows at Six Flags Great Adventure. The bus leaves from the Byram Municipal Building at 9:30 a.m. and returns by 10:30 p.m. Cost is $43 and includes admission to the park and bus transportation. A day of Broadway At 10 a.m. on May 19, a bus bound for Broadway will leave the Byram Municipal Building. "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," starring John Lithgow and Norbert Leo Butz, is a show about a pair of con men on the rise in the French Riviera who are competing to see who can con the most money out of the rich and famous. The $106 price includes orchestra/front mezzanine tickets and coach bus transportation. The bus will return at approximately 7 p.m. There will be time to browse through the surrounding stores or stop to eat before the 2 p.m. performance time. Somerset Patriots game On Saturday, June 19, why not treat Dad or Grandpa to a game at the Somerset Patriots field? Tickets are $8 and include seats in the upper box behind first base and a fahter-son clinic on the field at 11 a.m. The game begins at 1:35 p.m. No bus is provided for this trip. Tickets will be available at the box office under the name Byram Recreation but must be purchased in advance.
