Byram offers its annual Summer Afternoon Enrichment' for kids
Byram - The Byram Parks and Recreation Dept. will offer a “Summer Afternoon Enrichment Program” to give children ages 6-10 a chance to enjoy and concentrate in-depth on areas of interest to them. The program will run from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in one-week sessions from July 10 through Aug. 4. All activities will take place at the Byram Civic Center, 55 Lackawanna Drive, Byram. Teachers in the program are experts in their fields; class sizes will be kept small for maximum participation. Permission slips, medical forms and releases for each child must be completed prior to the beginning of the program. Children should bring a snack each day and wear lace-up athletic shoes without “heelies.” Those already enrolled in the “Summer Initiative Morning Program” may stay for a supervised lunch (bring your own) from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at an additional cost of $5 per week. They may then take part in the following afternoon activities for the fees indicated. Pick-up is promptly at 4:30 p.m. Late fees may be charged if a child is not picked up by 4:45 p.m. Gymnastics and Arts & Crafts will run from July 10-14. Girls and boys can learn gymnastics moves and create art projects. Cost is $80 per child. From July 17-21, there will be a Multi-Sports Camp for girls and boys. The camp will include up to 12 different sports in one week with the U.S. Sports Institute. Cost is $80 per child. Theatre and Masks will be the activities for July 24-28, combining acting basics and the art of mask making. Cost is $80 per child. Also running from July 24-28 are Horsemanship and Roller Skating. Horsemanship, which was popular last summer, teaches the children to learn to ride, groom and care for horses. Roller-skating (skates provided) will round out their afternoons. Cost is $175 per child. Finally, from July 31-Aug. 4, the Super Science Make & Take, a program will teach kids to make toys designed to illustrate science concepts while having fun. Cost is $80 per child. Non-Byram residents will pay an additional $10 per course. Payment is due at time of registration, either by mail or in person.
