Byram Police
November 26 At 3:21 a.m., a Byram Township police officer observed a vehicle traveling on Route 206 swerve into the oncoming lane of traffic. A motor vehicle stop was initiated. A brief investigation uncovered burnt marijuana and a smoking device in the vehicle. The driver, Ryan S. Johnson, 29, of Andover, was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance. Johnson was charged with failure to maintain lane of travel, driving while suspended, possession of a controlled and dangerous substance in a Motor Vehicle, possession of under 50g of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. At 2:22 a.m., a Byram Township police officer observed a vehicle traveling Route 206 with a broken tail light. A motor vehicle stop was initiated and after failing several field sobriety tests, the driver, Dale J. Bond, 44, of Randolph, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Bond was transported to police headquarters where he failed two breath tests. He was charged with failure to maintain lamps and driving while intoxicated. His vehicle was impounded for 12 hours as required by state law. At 10:08 p.m., a Byram Township police officer responded to a report of a possible intoxicated driver driving from Hopatcong into Byram on Lackawanna Drive. The caller stated that the driver hit a guard rail in Hopatcong on Maxim Drive. The Byram officer found the vehicle traveling on Lackawanna Drive near Old Wolfe Lake Road. After the vehicle drove through a stop sign, the officer initiated a motor vehicle stop. The driver, Robyn L. Tanis, 45, of North Haledon, failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was transported to the station where she refused to submit to breath tests. Tanis was charged with failure to stop, DWI and refusal to submit to breath tests. Her vehicle was impounded for 12 hours as required by state law.
