    On Feb. 4, the Byram Twp. Police were dispatched to a call of a hit and run motor vehicle accident in the area of Brookwood Drive and Brookwood Road. Patrols checked the area and observed a 1996 white Mazda with front end damage driving on Brookwood Road. They stopped the vehicle and asked the driver, Shannon R. Bane III, 20, of Barnegt, to perform several field sobriety tests, which he failed. Bane was arrested for driving while intoxicated. His passenger, Samantha M. Giordano, 20, of Bloomfield, was also arrested for underage consumption of an alcoholic beverage. They were transported to the station for processing; Bane failed two breath tests. Bane was charged with the following and released pending a Byram Township Municipal Court hearing: Driving while intoxicated, underage driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, failure to report a motor vehicle accident and careless driving. Giordano was charged with underage consumption of an alcoholic beverage and was released pending a Byram Township Municipal Court Date. Bane’s vehicle was impounded for 12 hours as required by state law.
