Byram police
July 7 The police responded to an All Terrain Vehicle complaint at four Brookwood Drive. Victor J. Joyner, 40, of Byram Twp who was owner of the vehicle obstructed the investigation held by the officer. Joyner was arrested for Obstruction and placed in the back of the police vehicle. A juvenile who was involved also obstructed the officer’s investigation and was arrested. Once Joyner was transported, the officer took him out of the car and began walking him inside the precinct. Joyner attempted to trip the officer and began to struggle with him. Joyner was taken to the ground where he then bit the officer on the arm. Joyner was subdued with the use of OC spray and both Joyner and the officer received medical attention from the Lakeland Emergency Squad. The officer had several injuries and received treatment at Newton Hospital later in the evening. Joyner was charged with the following: Aggravated Assault, Obstruction, Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Mischief. He posted $750 bail and was released pending a Byram Municipal Court date. The arrested juvenile was released pending a Sussex County Family Court date.
