October 29 At 12:54 a.m., Nicolas Poccia, 22, of Pine Bush, NY, was stopped after he made a left turn from Route 206 onto Lackawanna Drive cutting off Sergeant Burke’s patrol car. After a brief roadside investigation and field sobriety tests, Poccia was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. His vehicle was impounded for 12 hours as required by state law. Poccia was transported to police headquarters where he refused to perform breath tests. He was charged with failing to yield right of way, refusing to submit breath samples and driving while intoxicated. He was released to a friend pending a court date in November. October 30 At 1:09 a.m., Byram Police received a report of an intoxicated male acting in an unruly manner at Porky’s Restaurant on Route 206. Upon arrival, officers were advised by other patrons that Patrick Storm, 23, of Newton, was attempting to fight with several patrons at the restaurant. Patrols then spoke with Storms who appeared highly intoxicated and was yelling and screaming at the officers. Storms then struck Sergeant Zweigle of the Stanhope Police Department. Storms was placed under arrest and transported to the Byram Police headquarters. He was processed and lodged in the Sussex County jail in default of $2,500 bail. He was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
