Byram Rec sponsors Pitch, Hit and Run competition at Gylling Park
Byram - Pepsi and Major League Baseball are the sponsors of a national baseball competition to take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, for girls and boys ages 7-14 to showcase their athletic abilities. The Pitch, Hit and Run program is free to young participants and will take place at Neil Gylling Park on Mansfield Drive. Girls and boys compete together in four different age groups: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. Kids pitch at a target, hit a ball off a stationary tee and run the baseline for time. There are winners in each category plus an all-around winner who proceeds to a sectional competition (date and location to be announced). American Legion players run the competition. Pitch, Hit and Run is intended to encourage youth participation and emphasize the fun elements of baseball. While there is no registration fee, advance registration is required. To register, call 973-347-2500 x 160/161 or fill out the registration form in the Byram Township Newsletter and mail to Byram Parks & Recreation Department, 10 Mansfield Drive, Stanhope, NJ 07874.
