Byram Scouts get Bronze

Byram Three members of Troop 436, Jessica Franco, Anneliese Rilinger and Kim Rochette received the Bronze Award on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Byram Service Unit Court of Awards Ceremony. Franco, Rilinger and Rochette knitted and collected hats and scarves, which they then donated to the Samaritan Inn, in Franklin. So far, they have donated 74 hats and nine scarves in all different colors and patterns, with more to come! These Girl Scouts agreed that they wanted to make a difference in their community, by helping the homeless and keeping them warm through the upcoming winter months. They also learned that the majority of homeless people in Sussex County are working families, who are unable to keep up with the rising cost of housing; and that people who are employed are not eligible for public assistance.
