Byram students prepare for president's challenge
Byram - Byram Intermediate School will participate in the “President’s Challenge” physical fitness test in April. The students practiced in their physical education class during the fall in preparation for the nationwide test given each spring. Byram students in grades five through eight have been developing muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance through a variety of activities. Small groups have worked at “stations” like shuttle run, jump rope, traverse and vertical climbing walls, rope climbing, pull-up bars, powerclimber and curl-up areas. The students have been working hard to show their fitness improvements in hopes of earning awards given by the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. The council urges students and their families to “get up, get out and exercise,” regardless of the activity, because fitness is a life-long test.
