Sparta — Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church will hold its annual vacation bible school summer camp from 8:45 am to 12 noon on Monday, July 31 through Friday, Aug. 4. This year’s curriculum, for children ages three through fifth grade, is “All Aboard the Gospel Express.” After drop-off at 8:45 am, children and teachers gather for a welcome session in the church’s new sanctuary. Then, on to the Gospel Express stations: Boxcar Bible Stories, Train Games, Railroad Rhythm, Caboose Crafts, Clickety Clack Cinema and Train Snacks. At the day’s end, everyone will gather again for a closing session to celebrate their day and share their adventures. The week concludes with a musical performance and art exhibit for parents. “The games, crafts and multimedia presentations help kids understand the gospels in a way classrooms and textbooks never could,” says Barry Benson, senior pastor. “Vacation bible school is a fun way for children to be exposed to all the bible has to offer.” Shepherd of the Hills is located at 246 Woodport Rd. in Sparta. For information and registration, call 729-7010. The cost for materials is $20 per child. Parent volunteers are always welcome.
