sussex county - The Citizens’ Campaign today announced that it will conduct a forum on various issues, including pay-to-play reform, eminent domain reform for private redevelopment of blighted areas, and on the role of ethics in all levels of government, from 10 a.m. to noon on July 26 at the Littell Community Center, 12 Munsonhurst Road in Franklin. The Citizens’ Campaign is comprised of a number of organizations, including the leader, Common Cause of New Jersey, the Association of Retired People (AARP), and the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce. The organizations have worked collectively to harness the energy of citizens seeking a change in the way this state and local governments conduct business. The campaign has focused on the Margaret Mead dictum “that one should never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.” With the recent addition of the N.J. Public Advocate Ronald Chen, to their mission and activities by a number of ordinary citizens the campaign has been successful in passing ordinances and legislation. The Citizens’ Campaign is now working to develop an independent Office of Public Integrity. The forum at the Littell Center will seek to tell what ordinary citizens can do to change the political and economics of our state for the better.
