Augusta - The Sussex Skyhawks will host their first Classic Car Show at noon on Sunday, July 23, preceding the 2 p.m. game versus the Worcester Tornadoes. To “turn back the clock,” the team will sell hot dogs for 50 cents each throughout the game. All participants in the car show will have the opportunity to take part in a pre-game parade around the baseball field and will be eligible for various contests and prizes voted for by the fans, including a chance to throw out the first pitch before the game. All antique car owners will also receive two vouchers, good for any remaining 2006 Skyhawks home game. All vehicles are welcome; there are no year limitations for this event. “We are excited to host our first annual antique car show at Skylands Park on July 23,” said Ben Wittkowski, general manager of the team. “We invite everyone to come out to the ballpark to enjoy the car show and an exciting day of baseball.” Wittkowski said the team established the event in hope of instituting “a new annual tradition for the Skyhawks to offer the families of Sussex County.” Participants who would like to show their car must have a ticket for that day’s game and RSVP with the Skyhawks. For information or to RSVP, call 973-300-1000, ext. 15. For information on the car show, promotional schedule or how to purchase tickets, log on to sussexskyhawks.com. THe box office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
