Sparta - Many people are seeking alternative therapies to deal with conditions where traditional medicine may be ineffective or to counteract the stresses of life, and the recently opened Sparta Healing Place LLC offers an extensive selection of methods to accomplish these goals. Founder Rev. Harman Daniels, a Reiki Master, healer, and teacher who has practiced “complementary therapies” for many years, is joined by associate Barbara Crane, in providing these services. Their belief is that everyone is capable of being healed in mind, body, and spirit. Located in the center of Sparta’s business district, the facility offers a variety of choices including reiki, hypnosis, ear candling, and esalen massage. Rebirthing, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, counseling, and raindrop therapy with essential oils are also available. Sparta Healing Place LLC is equipped with an ion spa, which said Daniels, is beneficial for releasing toxins from the body. According to Daniels, reiki, known as the “touch of love,” is one of the most popular modalities provided. He explains that reiki is a Japanese word that means Universal Life Energy (Rei= universal, Ki= life energy). He stressed that reiki is not a faith system, and all that is required is the willingness to heal and be healed. Practitioners believe that reiki therapist channels the life force through his hands into a recipient’s body, thereby enhancing the body’s own natural healing ability. Rainbow therapy, explained Crane, is a process that involves dropping essential oils onto the spine and massaging them into the spinal column to relieve back problems, infections, and colds. According to Crane, viruses attach themselves to the spinal column and the massaging with oils which are absorbed by the skin helps to kill the virus. The procedure lasts 45-60 minutes as do most of their services. A method known as esalen massage originated at the Esalen Institute in Carmel, California. It differs from other forms of massage in that it consists of long strokes and the therapist maintains constant contact with the body. Headaches, back strain, and fatigue are all reported to dissipate after a 60-minute session. So relaxing is the process, that the client often falls asleep said Daniels. “It rids one’s self of emotional and physical tension.” Rebirthing is described as a method employing “conscious connected breathing” which releases suppressed emotional energy. According to the literature provided by the center, the purpose of rebirthing is “to heal the birth trauma, and to move on to the process of spiritual purification.” Daniels said he has experienced the procedure. Daniels is an ordained minister of healing in the Aquarian Church of Universal Service and ordained in the Brotherhood of Melchizedek. Crane, who is a reiki master and certified hypnotist, is a believer in all of the modalities practices, and feels that they are beneficial for everyone. An “open forum,” referred to as a metaphysical/spiritual evening, is held at 7:30 p.m. every Thursday. “Here is an opportunity for discussing and sharing. It is not a religious evening and not to be confused with such; it simply covers the human person. It can bring laughter; it can bring tears,” said Daniels who functions as the moderator. These sessions are free of charge, but Daniels will accept donations. But, he adds, “No one will be turned away.” Free healing mini-sessions are held weekly from 7 to 9 p.m. on Mondays and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursdays. The next session is scheduled for Jan. 16.
