Newton - The Coldwell Banker Heritage Real Estate office in Newton raised $431.10 from their garage sale last month. The money was donated to the Louisiana SPCA/Animal Search and Rescue for the benefit of animal victims of Hurricane Katrina. “We are pleased that we were able to assist in raising money for the SPCA and we look forward to making this benefit garage sale an annual event,” said Susan Pasquali, office manager. “We would like to thank the public for making our two-day sale such a success, and also extend our gratitude to our local Puppy Rescue chapter and Noah’s Ark for their participation.” One lucky kitten was fortunate enough to be adopted into a loving home during the sale. According to Kelli Grover, coordinator of the event, “We chose to donate to this cause because most of us had been involved in rescuing pets on our own and we felt a need to contribute in some small way to the massive relief effort. “Hopefully, some of the displaced families will be reunited with a beloved pet.”
