Newton - Sussex County Community College will host an open house from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 22, to give visitors an opportunity to see the campus and discover all that SCCC has to offer. Prospective students will be able to meet with an SCCC counselor to assist in deciding on a major, choosing a career path or just to discuss academic options. Attendees can also learn about the different degree and certificate programs, academic support services, athletics, student activities, and more. Faculty and staff will be on hand to discuss programs of study, answer questions about financial aid, and offer tours of the campus. SCCC provides many options for those looking to start their college career and then transfer to a four-year school. Students can save thousands of dollars by attending their first two years of college at SCCC. The college has articulation (transfer) programs with virtually every public and private college and university in N.J. In addition, SCCC and Rutgers have partnered to offer dual admissions. This allows students to be accepted to Rutgers, attend their freshman and sophomore years at SCCC, and then enter Rutgers with full junior status en route to receiving a degree from Rutgers. SCCC is offering “instant admissions” and the application fee will be waived during the open house. Continental breakfast will be served. For information, call 973-300-2223.
