Newton - The Sussex County Clerk’s office opened its doors to area business associates and local government officials Dec. 15, during an open house designed to introduce guests to the agency’s new office building, following a much-anticipated move in mid-November. County Clerk Erma Gormley and Deputy Clerk Dona McMillen acted as tour guides, showing off the new facility, which boasts an updated computer system for searching records and, importantly, much coveted space. “We literally were busting at the seams in our old building, with employees sitting practically on top of each other and with no space left to store or house anything additional,” said Gormley. “Our new site gives us an additional 700 sq. ft. and a lot more working space for our employees and customers alike. We’re very happy with our new surroundings.” Those in attendance at the open house included Assemblyman Guy Gregg and Assemblywoman Alison McHose; Sussex County’s freeholders; Surrogate Nancy Fitzgibbons and Sheriff Robert Untig; Bradley Gottfried, SCCC president, and Linda Nieman, the college’s executive director of planning and advancement; as well as several county personnel, area attorneys, and title searchers with whom the clerk does business.
