September 22 Brett Hosking, age 20, of Franklin, was sentenced to four years State Prison. Hosking pled guilty on June 26 to one count of third degree Burglary, one count of third degree Theft and one count of fourth degree Possession of CDS. Santino Pronesti, age 27, of Wantage, was sentenced to four years state prison and $155 in fines. He pled guilty on Aug. 3 to the second degree crime of official misconduct. He admitted that on various occasions between October 2005 and January 2006, he smuggled drugs and other contraband into the Sussex County jail while he was working there as a cook. The matter was investigated by the Sussex County Sheriffs Office and the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office. Lisa DeCato, age 36, of Stroudsburg, Pa., was sentenced to three years probation, a substance abuse evaluation, $1,205 in fines and a six month loss of driver’s license. She pled guilty on July 31 to the third degree crime of possession of heroin. She admitted possessing four bags of heroin on Feb. 13 which were discovered during a brief investigation by Byram Township Police Officer Daniel DeWald. Michael Hughes, age 35, of Sussex, was sentenced to three years probation, 270 days county jail, $1,330 in fines and a six month loss of driver’s license. He pled guilty on July 31 to the third degree crime of possession of heroin and fourth degree tampering with physical evidence. He was arrested following a motor vehicle stop by Sparta Police Officer Marc Rubino on June 3. A search of his person resulted in the seizure of two bags of heroin from his sock and three bags from a pocket of his pants. He was then asked by police if he possessed any more heroin, and he answered no. It was discovered that he had an additional ten bags of heroin secreted inside his mouth. Daniel C. Pfeil, age 20, of Newton, was sentenced to four years State Prison. He pled guilty on Aug.28, to Burglary and Theft, both third degree crimes. Pfeil participated in the burglary and theft of Dow Tire in Wantage. He also was involved in a scheme to steal money from Wal-Mart in Newton. September 25 Shari Canda, age 45. of Milford, Pa., pled guilty to third degree possession of heroin. She is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 9. She admitted to possessing ten bags of heroin during the course of a motor vehicle stop by Sparta Police Officer David Pridham. Dylan Gogolen, age 23, of Montclair, pled guilty to third degree possession of cocaine, driving while intoxicated and driving while suspended. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 9. He admitted to possessing two small bags of cocaine during a motor vehicle stop by Sparta Police Officer Richard Smith, and that he had also had his license suspended and had consumed both marijuana and cocaine prior to operating the vehicle. Michael Bracco, age 22, of Hopatcong, pled guilty to third degree possession of heroin, third degree burglary and third degree possession of cocaine. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 30. He admitted that on July 20 he possessed trace amounts of heroin in a hypodermic syringe and empty bags in his home. He also admitted to entering a residence for the purpose of stealing property from it on Aug.15. He also admitted to possessing a small amount of cocaine in a motor vehicle on Aug. 17. All of the offenses were investigated by the Hopatcong Borough Police Department. September 26 Robert J. Douglass, age 30, of Vernon, pled guilty to theft, a 4th degree crime. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 17. On October 2, 2005 in Vernon, he was seen by the victim of a recent theft leaving the area where the theft had occurred carrying a black tool case. The victim later picked the defendant’s photo out of a photo line-up and he was subsequently arrested. September 29 Tina M. Gribble, age 34, of Newton was sentenced to two years probation. She must serve thirty days in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility and was given credit for eighteen days served. She must pay total fines and penalties of $530, total restitution to several victims of $1,992 and submit a DNA sample at her expense. She pled guilty on Aug. 1 to four counts of issuing bad checks, all 4th degree crimes, and to a violation of probation which charged her with two (2) additional counts of writing bad checks, also crimes of the 4th degree. Between March 26, 2005 and June 10, 2005 she wrote a total of five checks to four victims knowing the bank (and account the checks were drawn on) would not honor those checks. She was sentenced to a probationary term on April 15, 2005, again for issuing worthless checks to yet another victim in May and June of 2004. Samuel Richmond, age 60, of Newton, was sentenced to eight years in state prison, $2,205 in Fines and a six month loss of driver’s license, He pled guilty on July 17 to the second degree crime of possession with the intent to distribute more than one half ounce of cocaine, He admitted to possessing approximately three ounces of cocaine with the intent to distribute it following a motor vehicle stop on May 3 in Newton by members of the Sussex County Narcotics Task Force and the Newton Police Department. James Heddy, age 30, of Newton, pled guilty to Credit Card Theft, a fourth degree crime, and Theft of Mislaid Property, a disorderly persons offense. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 16. Heddy admitted that he picked up a wallet that had been mislaid by the rightful owner. Rather then returning the wallet, or turning it into the Police Department, Heddy kept the wallet and later used the victim’s credit card to make purchases at the U-Save Gas Station. Jeffrey N. Dekmar, age 33, of Stockholm, New Jersey, was sentenced to six months State Prison to run consecutive to a term he is currently serving for a resisting arrest conviction in Bergen County and a violation of probation conviction in Morris County. He must pay total fines and penalties of $155 and submit a DNA sample at his expense. He pled guilty on Aug. 7 to forgery, a 4lh degree crime. He admitted to entering a home without the homeowner’s permission, taking a check from his checkbook, forging the victim’s signature and then cashing the check. This occurred in Hampton Township on July 5, 2005. Scott G. Canfield, age 29, of Newton, was sentenced to three years probation. He must submit to DVAC and TASC evaluations and follow any and all recommendations made. He must pay total fines and penalties of $155 and submit a DNA sample at his expense. He pled guilty on July 14 to terroristic threats, a 3rd degree crime. He admitted to the court that on or about Feb. 21, he had threatened to assault an adult female during a domestic violence dispute. Russell Schabacker, age 46, of Newton, pled guilty to Theft by Deception, a 4th degree crime, 2 counts of Burglary, a 3rd degree crime and Possession of CDS (cocaine). Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 17 . On Dec. 22, 2005, Schabacker broke into the VFW in Newton with the purpose of stealing alcohol. Later that same night, he smashed the window of Newton Photo Plaza and stole more than $12,000 in lottery tickets. Schabacker’s attempt to claim money from the winning tickets the next morning was unsuccessful. In addition, on Sept. 17, 2005, Schabacker fraudulently obtained alcohol from Shoprite Liquors in Newton by using a stolen check. Also, on July 3, 2005, he was arrested for possession of heroin. He is facing an eight-year prison term when he is sentenced. A juvenile pled guilty on Sept. 28 to second degree burglary and two counts of third degree theft. The juvenile was adjudicated a juvenile delinquent by the court. The juvenile, age 14, of Montague, was sentenced to two years probation, 60 days detention with credit for 26 days and the balance suspended. As conditions of probation, the juvenile must complete 100 hours of community service, attend school every day and follow home and school rules, enroll in and successfully complete the Alternate to Detention Program, submit a DNA sample, undergo random drug testing, have no contact with the victim or any co-defendants, testify truthfully against codefendants, pay restitution to the victim, and pay courts fines and fees of $105. The juvenile, along with three other juveniles, entered a neighbor’s apartment and stole DVDs, stereo speakers and a pellet gun. On a separate occasion, the juvenile removed a go-cart from a neighbor’s property. Sabrina Vivino, age 28, of Franklin, was sentenced to three years New Jersey State Prison. She pled guilty on Feb. 2 to Conspiracy to Commit Theft, a fourth degree crime. She was also charged with Possession of Heroin on July 28, 2005. She was scheduled to challenge the constitutionality of the search that led to that charge when she changed her mind and pled guilty. She was sentenced immediately after her plea.
