County Prosecutor
December 12 Yavuz Karadag, 32, of Clifton, pleaded guilty to four counts of illegal use of a credit card and resisting arrest. Between Nov. 18, 2003, and January 29, 2004, Karadag and a co-defendant used fraudulent credit cards to obtain goods at the Byram and Newton Shop-Rites and the Byram CVS Pharmacy. Karadag resisted arrest by grabbing and pushing the arresting officer after being told he was being placed under arrest. Sentencing is anticipated for Jan. 27. December 16 Edward R. Vandermark, 23, of Franklin, was sentenced to five years in N.J. State Prison. He must pay restitution of $21,810.23 to several victims, fines and penalties of $780, and submit a DNA sample at his expense. Vandermark pleaded guilty on Nov. 2 to four counts of burglary and one count of forgery, one count of shoplifting, and to violating his probation. Between June 7 and June 14, he entered several homes in Franklin, Wantage and Byram and took various items. On May 25, he admitted to attempting to steal several DVD’s from the Wal-Mart in Franklin, leaving the store after being approached by the manager. On Nov. 24, 2004, and on several dates thereafter, he admitted to taking several checks from his then roommate, forging the roommate’s signature, and cashing them at local businesses in Wantage. Because he was serving a probationary term on unrelated matters, the charges resulted in a violation of probation. Denise M. Lenihan, 25, of Ogdensburg, was sentenced to two years probation, must serve 90 days in the Sheriffs Labor Assistant Program and continue counseling and aftercare procedures as conditions of probation. She must pay restitution of $l,810, fines and penalties of $155, and submit a DNA sample at her expense. Lenihan pleaded guilty on Nov. 7 to forgery. She admitted that she made several withdrawals from her parents’ bank account, forging her mother’s name to the withdrawal slips, in Andover between June 27 and July 11. December 19 A 14-year-old male from Montague pleaded guilty on Dec. 15 to theft by unlawful taking, a violation of his current probation. He was adjudicated a juvenile delinquent and sentenced to an additional year of probation, detention through Dec. 23, with an additional 30 days suspended, loss of driving privileges for two years when he becomes of age, and to pay restitution court fines, live at home, obey house rules and attend school every day. The underage youth took his father’s car without permission, and crashed the vehicle. Edward R. Zubl, 34, of Hamburg, pleaded guilty to theft. On August 20, 2005 in Hardyston Township, he stole a truck from a former employer, hit a guardrail and then abandoned the vehicle. Sentencing is anticipated for Feb. 24. December 21 John F. Mize, 41, of Highland Lakes, was sentenced to two years probation and must serve 20 days in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility as a condition of that probation (with credit for one day served). He must submit to a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations made. Mize must pay total fines and penalties of $280 and submit a DNA sample at his expense. He pleaded guilty on Nov. 1 to aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. On Nov. 22, 2004, Mize struggled with Vernon police officers when they attempted to arrest him for DWI. One of the officers broke a finger on his right hand during the struggle.
