January 30 Ryan M. Manca, 23, of Franklin, pleaded guilty to eluding. On June 22, 2005, in Sparta, the defendant, struck an officer with his vehicle during a motor vehicle stop for speeding, and then led Sparta officers on a high-speed chase for approximately 3.5 miles before being arrested. Sentencing is anticipated for March 3. January 31 A 14-year-old male, of Branchville, was sentenced to two years probation, 30 days detention with credit for seven days, and 23 days suspended. The youth pleaded guilty on Jan. 26 to aggravated assault. He was in possession of a butterfly knife that he jabbed towards the victim while threatening to stab the victim. He was adjudicated a juvenile delinquent by the court. As conditions of his probation he must attend school, complete 35 hours of community service, undergo a psychiatric evaluation and follow all recommendations, play no video games until a court review in April, write a letter of apology to the victim, undergo DNA testing at his own expense, have no contact with the victim and no contact with knives. February 3 William J. Lasala, 26, of Wantage, was sentenced to four years N.J. State Prison, to run concurrent to a sentence he is presently serving in Warren County, plus an additional 68 days. He must pay restitution of $5971.49 and total fines and penalties of $280, and submit a DNA sample at his expense. Lasala pleaded guilty on Dec. 19 to two counts of burglary. He admitted to entering two homes in Wantage with the purpose of stealing property inside in order to support his drug habit. Jaime Lee Nystrand, 22, of Sussex, was sentenced to two years probation, must serve 15 days in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility and follow all recommendations made on a court ordered ASAP evaluation. He must pay total fines and penalties of $380 and submit a DNA sample at his expense. Nystrand pleaded guilty on Dec. 5 to two counts of aggravated assault. On Sept. 17, 2005, in Sussex he attempted to cause serious bodily injury to two people by lunging at them with a knife. He was arrested shortly thereafter by the N.J. State Police. Bruce D’ Amore, 21, of Newark, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance and resisting arrest. He admitted to possessing two vials of cocaine in Vernon on May 29, 2005, and resisting being arrested by Vernon Police Sgt. Michael Burns. He is schedule for sentencing on March 10. Howard Deiterle, 44, of Hopatcong, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance, resisting arrest and driving while suspended. He admitted to possessing two bags of heroin in Hopatcong on Nov. 15, and resisting arrest by Hopatcong Police Officer William Sutphen, who stopped the defendant while he was driving while his license was suspended. Deiterle is scheduled for sentencing March 10. Edward Carhardt, 38, of Andover, pleaded guilty to three separate indictments charging him with residential burglaries. He admitted that he burglarized a residence in Fredon, as well as residences in Warren and Somerset County. The Warren and Somerset County matters were consolidated in Sussex County for disposition. Sentencing is anticipated for March 24. Ronnie Mailloux, 31, of Bricktown, was indicted and charged with attempted burglary, attempted theft, possession of burglary tools, and providing false information to law enforcement. Mailloux is alleged to have attempted to break into Rich’s Deli in Hardyston for the purpose of stealing money and property. The case was investigated by the Hardyston Police Department and presented to the grand jury by assistant prosecutor Gregory R. Mueller. Mailloux will be arraigned before the Superior Court in Newton within the next six weeks. Baron Roesler, 34, of Ocean Grove, was indicted and charged with attempted burglary, attempted theft, and possession of burglary tools. The case was investigated by the Hardyston Police Department. Roesler is alleged to have attempted to break into Rich’s Deli in Hardyston for the purpose of stealing money and property. The case was presented to the grand jury by assistant prosecutor Gregory R. Mueller. Roesler will be arraigned before the Superior Court in Newton within the next six weeks. Sabrina Vivino, 28, of Franklin, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit theft. Vivino was involved in the theft of money from a patron of Koz’s Korner Tavern in Franklin. Sentencing is anticipated for March 24.
