    December 16 David Gesualdo, 23, of Milford, Pa., was sentenced to two years probation, $1,205 in fines, credit for time served (one day in jail) and a six month loss of driver’s license. Gesauldo pleaded guilty on Oct. 24 to prescription fraud. He admitted going to a pharmacy in Branchville and picking up a prescription for 30 hydromorphine tablets that had been called in by another individual, who claimed to represent a doctor’s office. December 19 Elvis Izaguirre, 32, of Stanhope, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance and motor vehicle tickets for driving while suspended and driving while intoxicated. He was found to be in possession of a small amount of crack cocaine following a motor vehicle stop by Stanhope Police Officer Ryan Hickman on Sept. 12. Izaguirre was driving under the influence of marijuana and his driver’s license had been suspended. He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 3. Louis Sylvain, 40, of Andover, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He admitted to possessing small amounts of cocaine on Nov. 7, 2004, and on Jan. 28, 2005, in Byram. Both cases were investigated by Ptl. Daniel DeWald of the Byram Police Dept. Sylvain is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 3. Lisa Estrella, 34, of Byram, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance. She admitted to possessing seven bags of heroin following a motor vehicle stop in Sparta on May 22 by Sparta Police Officer John Lamon. Her sentence date is March 3. Ryan Benson, 30, of Washington, pleaded guilty to one count of endangering the welfare of children. On or about May 7 Benson touched the vaginal area of a minor. Anticipated sentence date is March 3. December 22 The court suspended the imposition of a prison sentence on James E. Norman, 42, of Newton, for four years on the conditions that defendant is immediately placed on parole supervision for life, register under Megan’s Law, and enter and complete psychotherapy for disabled sex offenders. Norman brought a boy who was less than 16 years old to Kid’s Castle and, while there, he touched the victim’s penis. Norman must have no unsupervised contact with minors, and no contact with the victim or victim’s family. He was ordered to pay fines and costs of $955. Anthony J. Carriera, 30 of Newton, was sentenced to two years probation, seven months loss of drivers license, 50 hours of community service and 12 hours JDRC. Defendant must pay restitution of $1,070.35 and fines and costs of $810. Carriera was driving north on County Rte. 655 when he swerved out of control into the southbound lane, causing a head on collision. The driver of the vehicle in the southbound lane suffered two broken ribs, among other injuries. After the crash, the Carriera’s blood was tested and found to be at .12 BAC. December 23 County Prosecutor David J. Weaver announced the arrest of Rosean Boyd, 31, and Aida Matta, 30, of Hamburg on Dec. 22, by Hopatcong police, N.J. State Police, and the narcotics task force of the prosecutor’s office. Bail was set at $50,000 with no 10 percent option, and they are presently being held in the Sussex County Jail. The vehicle in which they were located was stopped pursuant to a search warrant and 49 bags of heroin were recovered. Boyd and Matta were both charged with possession and intent to distribute, as well as endangering the welfare of the children who were present in the vehicle when stopped.
