SUSSEX COUNTY - The Salvation Army’s annual “Red Kettle” campaign is now under way. Volunteers are needed for four-hour shifts at numerous locations throughout N.J. In recent years, the Salvation Army has lost high visibility kettle locations, which makes it even more important than ever to have red kettles manned by volunteers. Kettle donations are used not only during the holidays but throughout the year to provide hot meals, warm clothing and small toys for children. Salvation Army programs and services that depend on kettle funds include shelters, soup kitchens, food pantries, emergency disaster services, youth and senior programs, as well as emergency assistance for prescriptions and housing. Individuals, school groups, churches, service organizations and clubs are encouraged to volunteer. For information, call 908-851-8229.
