County seeks parents to host at-risk youths

    Newton - The Sussex County Youth Shelter Program is seeking host home parents to provide temporary residences (up to 28 days) for at-risk youths placed through the Division of Youth and Family Services, family court, the Family Crisis Intervention Unit or the probation department. The county reimburses on a per diem rate, and each family is responsible for the following: •Twenty-four hour supervision of youth •Daily accounts of activities of the youth •Becoming a licensed home under state of licensing standards (N.J. Chapter 124) •Willingness to complete training such as CPR, non-violent crisis intervention training, effective communication and medication administration training •Providing residents with an individual bedroom and all meals •Transportation to school, work, court and medical appointments •Scheduling medical appointments •Entering into a contractual agreement with the county •All members of the household to have a criminal background and child abuse checks.
