June 10 William J. Bender, 71, of Lafayette, was arrested after being stopped at 12:24 a.m. for failing to maintain a lane of travel on Route 206 southbound in Frankford. Subsequent investigation led to Bender being charged with driving while intoxicated. Bender was also issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to maintain a lane and having no automobile insurance. The arresting officer was Sergeant George Kately. Bender was released pending a future court date. At 1:17 a.m., a sheriff’s officer on routine patrol attempted to stop a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation on Kemah Lake Road in Frankford. The operator of the vehicle sped away from the officer. The vehicle was later found abandoned on a dirt lane in Hampton. Subsequent investigation led to the arrests of Patrick J. Skelenger, 36, of Newton, and David M. Ireland, 26, of Augusta. Skelenger was charged with eluding a police officer and criminal mischief. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, abandoning a motor vehicle on private property, failure to use turn signals, two counts of reckless driving, three counts of failure to maintain lane, and failure to stop for an emergency vehicle. The criminal mischief complaint resulted from damage done to private property where the vehicle was abandoned. Ireland is accused of obstruction of the administration of law and making false reports to a law enforcement officer. He was the registered owner of the vehicle involved and was charged after he allegedly reported the vehicle as stolen to the N.J. State Police. Skelenger and Ireland were both processed and released pending future court appearances. Officer Christopher Bork was the investigating and arresting officer. June 20 At 10:11 p.m., a sheriff’s officer on routine patrol arrested two juvenile females (aged 16 and 17) from Frankford at the Culver’s Lake Dam and charged them with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. They were released to their respective parents pending future family court appearances. The arresting officer was Sheriff’s Officer Christopher Bork. June 21 Timothy V. McNamara, 49, of Stillwater, was arrested at 8 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol after a sheriff’s officer observed him asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle in the parking lot of the Newton office of the Division of Motor Vehicle Services. McNamara was released pending a future appearance in the Newton Municipal Court. The arresting officer was Sheriff’s Officer John Gray, who was assisted by Officer Samantha Shpiruk, a drug recognition expert. As in all cases, all individuals arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
