Topic: Mr. Joseph Pezak Byram - Have you met Mr. Joseph Pezak, Superintendent of Byram Township Schools? Well, recently we sat down with him and had a chance to ask some questions. We learned that Mr. Pezak was born in Archbald, Pennsylvania, which is near Scranton. He grew up in northeastern Pennsylvania. After high school, Mr. Pezak went to Bucknell University, where he earned a degree in science. Later he earned his master’s degree in education from East Stroudsburg University and advanced certifications from Lehigh University. Mr. Pezak began his career in education teaching science in both Madison Township High School and Mount Olive High School. Mr. Pezak began his administrative career as the science supervisor at West Morris High. He later became a vice principal at Mount Olive High School. Before accepting his position in Byram, Mr. Pezak was both a principal and a superintendent in New York. Mr. Pezak describes Byram Schools as “a really great place with terrific parents and children.” We asked him what the hardest and the most rewarding parts of his job are, and he replied, “The responsibility of running an entire district is the hardest part. The most rewarding aspect is being able to watch the growth of the children from year to year.” Mr. Pezak also mentioned that society has changed so much in the past 10 years, and he has seen many changes in children as well. Since starting in Byram Township, Mr. Pezak has made some very positive changes and contributions. He was here through the planning stages of the Byram Lakes Elementary School and was able to watch the building project take off and become the beautiful structure that it is today. He has also worked to compile student achievement data so that the school system can better help students. “My future goal is to make Byram Township the best “I” district in New Jersey.” Mr. Pezak wants to see all of his students succeed in the future.
