Sussex - Curves locations in Wantage, Hamburg and Andover, are conducting a “St. Jude Workout” this week to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. The program is being coordinated locally by Linda Bassett. “Money raised in this event will help to ensure that children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases will have a better chance to live.” said Bassett. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by the late entertainer, Danny Thomas, St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fundraising organization. When the hospital first opened in the 1050s, acute lymphoblastis leukemia, the most common form of childhood leukemia, was only survived by five percent of patients; the current rate is 80 percent.
